While I’m just as excited as everyone else (ok, probably more than most) to see what tasty goodies are announced at Tuesday’s Macworld keynote, I always find it humorous to see every tiny thing Apple does leading up to the event will be analyzed in great detail.

Just so everyone is up to date, so far Apple put up a sign and Apple has started to set up it’s booth. And boy, it must be something big!

Don’t get me wrong - I love Apple stuff and will probably definitely end up joining into the frenzy Tuesday afternoon, buying whatever new gear that Mr. Jobs has released to the world (note: PLEASE let it be a 10 hour, sub-2-pound ultralight). And, even though I’m just sick like that, I will be getting rid of whatever machine I end up replacing.

The thing that I find brilliant is that it’s not Apple’s marketing or developer evanglism team that has built the frenzy around the event - it’s the users, bloggers and media. The down side to this, of course, is that more often than not the actual event can’t live up to the expectation.

Fanboy! I remember when you thought I was an idiot for owning a Apple…. (I have the email saved ;) )

Yeah, yeah. But, at the time, Windows was still good.

I wonder though, when it’s popularity will force me to move onto something else. As it becomes more commonplace, more developers will flock to it, and more crap software will be available. Then it’ll be time to move on to the next thing.

I think you are right. When everyone else gets on the bandwagon, time to get off and find something new.
It is not fun being in a crowd.
