PRK

After putting it off for several years, I finally got around to getting my eyes checked to see if I’m a candidate for Lasik surgery. This year has been a real nightmare with my allergies and contacts, so I figured that it was worth looking into.
Turns out, after several exams, that there were some ‘indicators’ that suggested that I may eventually have problems with thinning cornea’s, so they suggested that I go down the PhotoRefractive Keratectomy (PRK) route instead.
So instead of having my cornea lens flap cut and ‘remodeled’, they’ll take a laser and burn off the top layer and reshape it with a laser. Apparently it’s more painful and ‘visual recovery’ is slower.
Joy. I just can’t wait until next week.

You’re a braver man than I. It’s one of those things I’ve always thought about, but don’t think I’ll have the guts to ever do.
Good luck!

You can’t see, you can’t work.
You can’t see, you can’t watch movies.
I would think four times before a laser or knife gets by my eye.
Best of luck to you,
Brett

Yeah, I am with Brettski — I would not do it. If you are bored, just make a 3rd child. Oh wait, rumor has it that is what you did for your birthday
Seriously, good luck w/ the eye surgery.

No more kids. How many times do I need to tell you that?
Thanks though - next week will be interesting. I should get some games like pin the tail on the donkey or a pinata to see how life is when I can’t see.
Plus, I’m going to have to try out screen reading software…

I now have a game, so check it out: http://images.southparkstudios.com/games/timmy/timmy_game_lg.html
You should try Vista and its new “speech technology” and voice over on OS-X. Let us know which one has worked best for you while you are in the blind state.
