[Dare Obasanjo] This is why Open Source is dead, as it will cease to be relevant in a world where most consumers of software actually use services as opposed to installing and maintaining software that is “distributed” to them.

[Paul Graham] A few days ago I suddenly realized Microsoft was dead…. I can sense that. No one is even afraid of Microsoft anymore. They still make a lot of money‚Äîso does IBM, for that matter. But they’re not dangerous.

[Jeremey Wagstaff] It’s not the “Death” of Microsoft, it’s the “Death of Software” – all this just proves to me that there has been little real innovation in software in the sense of making programs do more. Web 2.0 has excited us because we lowered our expectations so much.

Wow – lots of death going around. Let me check… yup, Anna Nicole is still dead too.

So it goes.
