Is Daylight Savings Time the “Real” Y2K?

I’ve gone through the fun of updating my laptops, my server, and even did the registry fix to make sure that my Windows Mobile phone (T-Mobile Dash) are all set - but I wonder what’s going to happen to all those devices around my house that I can’t patch. Like the TiVo, my coffee pot, the oven, the alarm clocks, etc.
Now, the best case scenario is that I manually change them this weekend, then in 2 weeks change them again. But I still have this nagging feeling that something is going to get completely screwed up because of the DST changes this year.
Could DST become the horror that everyone thought Y2K was going to be? Wikipedia is referring to this as Y2K7.
Hang on.. It could be a wild ride…
Update: Looks like CNN is running a story on this today.

Your Tivo probably updated itself - most of the units have gotten updates in the last few weeks that have the new DST settings.
As for your coffee pot, oven and alarm clocks, I’d love to see one of those that corrects for DST as it is. I think for those items, YOU are the automatic program that updates the time when DST comes around…

I agree, I am the automatic program for those (I was attempting some humor there)

It is a colossal pain in the butt!

Hi Steve,
WOW, now I know why your blog is so popular. I was intimidated just to come look, being a complete non-tech gal. But I’ve been back several times since hearing you talk at Me Ra’s. Thanks for the group encouragement. I and numerous others were inspired to finally get our blogs off the ground. Come visit if you get the chance. http://www.janetklinger.com/blog. Don’t worry. I don’t hold you responsible for the content, just the propulsion. Thanks Fella!
