I’m sitting here in Sunnyvale getting ready for bed after spending my first full day as a Yahoo! employee. As usual, the first day is chock full of all that fun ‘new employee’ stuff - you know, spending the day with various folks from HR, processing paperwork, etc. So, I figured before I turn in for the night, it would be a great time to update Furrygoat.
Whoa! What!?!
Well you see, about 1 1/2 weeks ago I had my last day as a Microsoft employee.
I have to admit - there’s somewhat of a surreal feeling leaving the collective after being there for a few years. Handing in your blue badge, smart card reader and parking pass all have a sense of finality to it. But it felt like it was the right time for me to move on and embark on new challenges.
While I was on paternity leave, I decided approach a few different companies and explore some opportunities that really got me fired up with the direction they were headed. Which ultimately lead me to decide to join Yahoo!
I’m not going to get into all the details of what I’ll be doing there just yet - but I will say this: I’ve been already waking up at 2:30am just thinking about how exciting this is going to be.
Stay tuned….

Didn’t think Steve was moving to SV so soon. Thought he was working remote for a while.
Steve (March 6, 2007 @ 1:04 pm)
Jeff is correct - I’m remote.

Wow… The Goat has left the building. Working with you was one of the most fun experiences I’ve had in a long, long time. Specs were either in the code, or on one of several whiteboards. Spending a week getting servers to behave in Redmond, while we were in Honolulu.
Steve - I wish you the best of luck, and will miss your insights and visions immensely. Yahoo is certainly in for a great ride…

Might you be working on Windows Mobile development for Yahoo?
Steve (March 15, 2007 @ 8:16 pm)
I haven’t done coding on Windows Mobile stuff (outside of some personal projects) in 2 years unfortunately… Perhaps that may change
Or not
Who knows.

Hey, I tried to look you up in Outlook today but it could not “find the requested contact.” Sad! I enjoyed working with you on WCF and wish you the best in your future endeavors.
