How To: Remove Hotmail From the Dash

When I got the Dash, I set up Pocket MSN so I could get my Hotmail while on the go. It (for the most part) has been working well, as it just added Hotmail to my list of email accounts and typically syncs without problem.
However, a few weeks ago I decided to make the jump to a private email address that would get less junk mail and start my migration from Hotmail (although I still check it every once in awhile), so I wanted to remove it from the account list. This turned out to be a bit more complicated than I had expected.
If I went to Messaging, highlighted Hotmail, then selected “menu” - I was presented with 2 options: “Settings” and “Delete”. Both were grayed out. For the last week, I couldn’t figure out hot to remove this rouge Hotmail entry, until I stumbled on these steps today:
- Run Pocket MSN
- Sign into MSN Messenger (note: you must do this, otherwise this wont work)
- Go back to the Pocket MSN page, select Options->Switch User. If this is grayed out, see step #2.
- Hit “Switch User”
This will reset your Pocket MSN, and remove Hotmail from the list. Now, I don’t know why the ‘delete’ option wasn’t enabled, but it seems that would be the most user-friendly thing to have working.
