[Jeff Simmermon via Dare Obasanjo] And I know this right now: life is meant to be lived, not synthesized on a computer. Blogs and digital media are changing the world and I love being a part of the wave — but computers are for communicating life, not something to live life through.

While I’m not a fan of New Years resolutions, I certainly am the first to admit that I’ve been in a rut the last few months. Over the last six weeks while I’ve been on paternity leave (in between changing dirty diapers, playing with silly putty with my oldest son and driving my wife crazy) I’ve been thinking about life, work, balance, family, home offices, operating systems, software experiences, and the things that make me happy and what drives me to be passionate about software.

And while a lot of my general grumpiness have been solved by simplifying things around me, I still feel like I’m still doing a lot of soul searching these days.

I spend a lot of time thinking about technology and the emotional experience it can create when a user is empowered to do something wonderful in software. In a bizarre way, it’s a part of my soul that it’s built into my DNA of what makes me happy. I really believe that in a lot of ways, my ‘theme’ for 2007 needs to be about a single mantra: ‘think different‘.

All I know is that I’ve personally vowed to make things different (and it is complete irony that this is New Years Eve). After I get done shaving my head this morning, the next phase for me is about connecting the dots

Here’s to 2007 and have a happy new year…

Steve, if you make one more Apple reference we may start thinking that the dots will lead to Cupertino…

    Happy New Year!

    Thanks Werner - you too..

Ya know, I’d be lying if I said that I haven’t thought about it. I don’t know if I could do the valley though — not a huge fan of the area..
