[NWSource] Beginning Jan. 1, 2007, newspaper ads from The Seattle Times and the Seattle Post-Intelligencer will no longer appear online. To continue to see the newspaper ads, we suggest convenient home delivery of The Seattle Times or Seattle Post Intelligencer.

No, that’s not convenient! It’s the exact opposite - it’s completely inconvenient (and it just blows).

For the last few years, NWSource has had online ads from the local papers, and now instead of pushing it further (like, a local RSS feed for ads I’m interested in), they’re going to kill it in favor of freaking paper delivery. How on earth am I going to see what’s on sale at Fry’s now!? Weak.

I do agree. We live here in Poulsbo and Fry’s is my number one source for my computer parts. It is backward thinking for the Times and I plan to tell fry’s about the decision not to post the ads anymore, when I am in there next time. If anyone else knows where to see the fry’s ad on line, please forward the info.

I’m glad to see I’m not the only one that thinks this was a stupid idea. Even though I live in Redmond now I STILL want to know what’s on sale before I make the trip to Fry’s. I’ll bet you that Fry’s was the only retailer that was making any money off the ads and the Times wanted to raise their rates.

I have contacted both the NWsource and Frys. It is sad that Seattle Times feels the ads offer more content then their stories. Advertisers pay the newspaper for exposure to their services and products. Maybe Frys should charge the paper.

I also am also upset with frys.com. All the major retailers: Compusa, Best Buy, etc.. offer their weekly ads online.

Geez, I went for the first time this year to look at the ads, and imagine my surprise when there were none of the newspaper ads available anymore. this was a totally stupid decision on the times’ part.

Fry’s ads are back at seattletimes.com. It’s a small banner about mid-page. Or you can access directly at http://local.ads.nwsource.com/ads/sites/frys then click the day of the week.
