After my friend Michael sent me this article on how caffeine addiction can be classified as a mental disorder, I’ve decided to go cold turkey on my daily coffee habit.

A typical coffee morning for me breaks down to a triple-venti non-fat latte on the ride into work which is followed by 2-3 12oz cups from the iCup throughout the morning. All I know is that adds up to almost 56oz of coffee drinks in the morning. It’s way overboard, and I have to stop it now.

Wish me luck.

Update: I am weak. I lasted until 8:00am when I caved and had a 12oz iCup.

That’s rough. Let’s talk about it tomorrow morning over coffee.

I was going to ask you to meet up for coffee…

Good luck! You will be fine … you just need to make it through the next 4 days - then you will probably end up having more energy … still crave the coffee though :)

oooooh, good luck to you. you are much stronger than me. have fun with the shakes and the lovely side effects that happen when you go cold turkey. :)

BTW - are you changing your banner now that you’re off coffee??

Good luck, but I’ll stick with the disorder. The last time I went off caffeine I had 4 days of a general buzzing in the back of my head and it didn’t seem worth it. I didn’t even get a “I Kicked Coffee And Alls I Got Was This T-Shirt” t-shirt.

In fact, much like how “Supersize Me” sent me to McDonald’s for dinner, I’ma go get a latte now.

That’s my boy. Come back to the Dark Side.

Ah well, I was just joking with you anyway. Caffeine’s pretty low on the list of your mental problems. :-)
I don’t drink coffee, but soda and hot chocolate are sweet nectars of life. Giving it up is tantamount to joining a monastery and selling all your earthly possessions except for a simple wooden bowl. While you’re at it, rename the site to FurryGhandi.

Does this mean that you are selling your SBUX?

    Steve (October 28, 2006 @ 3:13 pm)

No way! My SBUX stock is the best perfoming in my portfolio..

I went off coffee for a while, mostly for heart burn reasons. The headaches were the worst for me. Almost a month of caffine withdrawl headaches.

To not quite go cold turkey, try switching to hot tea or hot chocolate.

I’m onto day three of stopping cola and tea…and I feel so bad that my husband is insisting I go to the doc’s tomorrow. I have had blinding headaches on the left hand side….nausea, I feel dizzy and zero energy. Bit better now I’m on day three but still so tired and I have slept for hours and hours over the week-end. The dark side is calling me back…but to be honest, if this IS caffeine withdrawal then I won’t ever touch the stuff again as God knows what it has been doing to me. Have to go….and have another mug of…..water. :(

There arise problems if we discontinue to take the Coffee like stuff.I think we all got habituated to caffine products.
