[Gizmodo] A box to connect to your TV to play all these iTunes Movies and iTunes TV shows on it. This box supports wireless—no stringing cables—and is the missing piece. iTV looks like a small Mac Mini. It’s just an internal codename, and will be renamed later. There’s a power supply inside, USB, 802.11 wireless, Ethernet, HDMI, component, stereo audio, and optical audio out to your TV.

Well, looks like Apple finally has done it. I’m glad someone finally listened to me regarding the streaming of movie trailers. :)

Looks like it’s time to whip out the credit card.

Update: I needed to get a new iPod (I had a B&W one that I sold recently), so I ended up going with the new 80gb model. While I don’t see the iTV in my home theater, it’s really a toss-up at this point on the living room and upstairs between it and more Xbox 360’s as extenders. This is going to be an interesting few months. :)

More info on the iTV from Engadget.

How do you feel about the 299.00 price point of the iTV? It seems a bit high for an extender only device.

I was talking about iTV. I did not see you mention 80 GB ipod in your posting.

Not sure yet. As I mentioned - im not sure why i’d get an iTV over a 360, since you can play Lego Star Wars 2 (out today, and awesome) for the 360 :)

Just a little confused. You say it’s “time to whip out the credit card” yet later on you admit that a) the iTV wouldn’t fit into your home theater and b) it’s a very tough choice between an iTV and an XBox 360. Seems you were all fired up over the iTV and now it’s been downgraded to lukewarm?

As an aside, I can’t really see the iTV as having anything unique that would put it above a 360 extender. The 360 is a nice looking bit of kit and on the plus side you also get a DVD player for when you have the actual physical disc as well.
