[HD Beat] We’re not entirely surprised at the resolution, a 720p-encoded file would have been a long download, not to mention the Xbox 360’s smallish 20GB hard drive. Unfortunately it gets worse, the presentation was in widescreen, but with included bars at the top and bottom as though it were intended only for 4×3 SDTVs. Why they opted for a version that looks like it was taped off of Sci-fi network onto someone’s VHS we will never know, but with the artifacting and low quality of the file we cannot recommend this to anyone in good faith.

What a freaking bummer. I was just saying to some of my co-workers this morning that I was really impressed with Xbox Live and the fact they had some content that I couldn’t get up on iTunes. I was also getting excited that we’re seeing the beginning of Opt-In Television, but we really need to get some HD quality content up there.

Speaking of which, is it just me, or does anyone else keep ‘losing’ files on their Xbox hard drive. Half the time I download something, I have no idea where it went. I have to go find it in the marketplace, and have it take me to where it downloaded it. For the life of me, I don’t know why I can’t just ‘play’ it from there if I already have it.

If you’re waiting for the file and it pops up the “[Movie/Demo] Download Complete” alert, hit the [honkin green X on the silver sphere] Guide button… I’m pretty sure that jumps to where the file went.

Great - but the next time I turn it on, I can never remember where I need to go to watch it. I end up having to go back into the marketplace, find what im looking for, then hit ‘take me there’. Kinda weak.

Nah randy, that doesn’t work. Yeah, the 360’s seemingly random method of sorting your downloaded files is a drag, but I’ve gotten somewhat used to it. My problem is I’ll download something, walk away, and a half hour later not remember which trailer it was I just downloaded.

I’ve had this problem. Primarily, I will check to see if the file download ever completed. Sometimes it will terminate for some reason - which leaves me with a “download completed” indication and a temp named file on my drive. I’ll check to see if there are any temp named files on my drive first.

Then I check for the file by content type using the dashboard. If I can’t find the file, then I’ll try downloading again, and often it will pick up where it left off.

    A tad ridiculous.

Time for an update to dashboard - anybody know when one is pending?
