[Microsoft] The UMPC Display Emulator Beta application enables you to test your application’s layout and screen behavior as it appears on an UMPC. Use the UMPC Display Emulator to confirm that your program is legible, accessible, and provides a great user experience when running on a UMPC.

If you want to check how your apps behaves at 800×480, you’ll want to get the Origami emulator. Interesting to note: the emulator uses the "Detours" library I mentioned a few months back to intercept Win32 functions involving display, positioning, etc.

Personally, I don’t see myself buying one of these things. I just don’t find it that compelling.

    I wish people tested using a TabletPC emulator. You wouldn’t believe how many apps (some from Microsoft!) refuse to run in portrait mode. Apparently they look at just the horizontal part of 768×102, conclude you must be running at a resolution less than 800×600, and then refuse to run. Oops.
