Dead USB Key

This sucks – my 1GB USB key just died. The other day, I started getting read errors from it so I thought I would go ahead, pull over all my ’stuff’ and reformat.
Now, anytime I try to access the key I get this: "Invalid media or Track 0 bad – disk unusable." Even the great HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool dies on it.
At least I was able to get all my goodies off of it before it croaked.

Say What! They can die??? Please say it isn’t so, I have way too much data on them now to even consider a “disk failure” ok, then thanks for the warning I‚Äôll back up today.

Yeah they can die! And they can die young!
My 1GB Sd card dies and goes to limbo… It shows all the files but does not allow to format it or reuse it in any way.

HP bootup utility works for some keys when the light is on. It would better (if your key is still working) to engage hp utility first.
Try pc inspector to check and perhaps recover you data.
Formatting is getting expensive for many of us.
