I see from the CES coverage that Seagate has announced a new 160gb 2.5 laptop drive which has me thinking about whether or not to get one to slap in my aging T40 or wait a few months to get some sort of new portable.

I really miss the size and weight of the Sony 505VE series (remember the old 300mhz laptop that was as thin as a small notepad?), so I might go down the route of a subnote. Right now, I’d really like something that has awesome battery life (~5hrs or more), at least 1280×720 (and able to run glass on Vista), built in wifi and bluetooth, a dvd burner and at least a 1.8ghz processor.

Omar went with a Sony VGN-TX630P/B which I really like, but it’s too underpowered for my needs.

Or, perhaps I’ll wait for an Intel based Powerbook instead. I just need to make sure that I’ll be able to dual boot into Windows :)

Wait a month or two if you’re looking at a new laptop. Core Duo should fix any issues with underpowered laptops ;)
