xBox 360 For Home Theater?

After seeing the xBox 360 yesterday at the company meeting, I started to think about a problem that I have with my home theater setup: it has a low wife-acceptance factor. I’m currently faced with writing out an instruction sheet on how to power up Media Center, what to do if the resolution is shifted (I sometimes see this), how to get into the 10 foot UI, etc. Frankly, it’s just too difficult for non-techies.
Since we rarely watch TV in the theater, I was thinking about replacing the MCE box with an xBox 360 and just dump the MCE into the closet. This way, I could play DVD’s on the 360 and stream whatever movies/audio/photos/etc to the theater via it’s built in extender functionality.

no doubt: xbox 360 will lift up the WAF of MCE a lot.
today, my wife said she would like to have a new plasma tv in the bedroom to watch her recorded tv shows! just a beginning to get microsoft into the daily lives of the non-technical users…

This is something we have talked about a lot on my podcast
Media Center adoption is going to increase once the XBox 360 is out
I am trying to get someone from the XBox team on to the show

Is the xbox 360 fanless/silent?

This is what I’m planning on doing. My media center PC is in the office, since it didn’t go over well in the living room. I’ll end up streming video from it to the xbox and onto the tv.

Yes, I heard the CPU is watercooled, but what about a fan on the PSU? And potentially one on the graphics chip?
