After my earlier post today, I started to think about how much money I’m spending on an annual basis for Internet and Media related ’services’:

  • Netflix: $19.57/mo ($234.84/yr)
  • Tivo: $12.95/mo ($144.40/yr)
  • Cable Modem: $50/mo ($600/yr)
  • Cable TV: $50/mo ($600/yr)
  • T-Mobile Unlimited Internet: $19/mo ($228/yr)
  • Typepad: $105/yr
  • Hotmail Plus: $19/yr

That totals almost $2000/yr ($1942.24 to be exact) for this stuff. Which is another reason why I won’t pay for services like Folder Share, XDrive or any other drive or photo sharing. In fact, after making this list, I realize that need to cut back on some of this — $2000/yr is just ridiculous.

Hey, if you’ve got the money, why not?

I have almost all of the benefits of the services you subscribe to at a fraction of the price, I pay for cable and cable modem… but who needs Hotmail plus when Gmail is so much better (anyone need an invitation? I still have 47)? And with great free software like Blosxom, LogMeIn, Plaxo, Flikr, JussPress, and GuildFTP, for example, I have all the remote software, blogging, remote file storage, and online TV I need.

On a shoestring budget people can still be connected and benefit from the cutting-edge benefits of the Internet.

Good thing, with what I get paid. ;) ~Jason

    Wow

$2000 per year for all of those services??

Granted taking out the 2 cable services (TV and internet)takes about 2/3 out of it. Im not sure what you can do to keep those services and reduce the costs on those two items. The remaining items in comaprison seems like a great bargain

PS James if you still some GMAIl invites let me know
