Like everyone else around the world, I’ve been having a hard time getting my head around the utter devastation caused by Katrina on the Gulf Coast earlier this week. Of course, Liz and I made a contribution to the Red Cross (I’ve been really amazed at Microsoft’s response to Katrina) and am glad that they’ll match employee contributions at 100%.

There’s been a lot of talk lately on whether or not the looting that occurred in New Orleans was justified. When I see people running down the street with a new TV, it angers me because I know for a fact that if my child was starving, I’d be breaking into a store to provide him with food and water. I’ve been spending a lot of time this week thinking about the lengths that I’d go to protect and provide for my family, and how unimportant most of this technology crap is.
