Playstation Portable

I finally own a Playstation Portable. As I mentioned months ago, the PSP seems to be the perfect combination of form factor, price point and a killer screen - it’s what Portable Media Center should have been. Everything from the inital setup, user interaction, menu navigation and fit and finish feels ‘natural’. I love it.
The only thing I can’t do is drop a bunch of MP4’s on my wireless WL-HDD drive and stream them to the PSP via browser - but, that seems like it’s only a matter of time. I also really need to run over to Fry’s this morning to pick up a Logitech PlayGear Pocket and Madden 2006 for it.
Of course, life wouldn’t be complete without my "why is everything just so difficult" karma following me into PSP land: I can’t, for the life of me, get this thing to connect to the PC over USB. It sees my wireless access point no problem, but whenever I plug it in, Windows churns for a few seconds, I get a "Hardware Installation" dialog where it tells me it’s an "Unknown Device" and I get a very helpful tooltip ‘bubble’ that says that the "device is not recognized". That’s it, nothing else. I tried both the front and back USB ports of my Shuttle, the USB hub on my monitor and my laptop. Nothing.
Update: Turns out both cables I tried were sucky (what are the odds?). Anyways - I’m up and running now.
