My never-ending quest to end comment spam has had an unfortunate side effect: requiring people to register for comments has really reduced the number of real comments. I guess people just don’t want to register.

Anyhow, I’ve disabled TypeKey for now, and I’ll deal with the comment spam until I can figure out a better solution.

Yeah, whenever I felt compelled to leave a comment on one of your posts, I would look at the registration screen and said to myself “Eh, wasn’t that important” and not leave a comment.

I wasn’t sure if that was the desired effect though ;)

Hate to say it, Steve, but I’m one of those that stopped at the TypeKey door several times. It isn’t that I mind having an account, it’s just that I don’t have one and I never wanted to take the time to set it up.

I do comment on MSN Spaces blogs, and they require registration. But I already have a Passport and so the barrier — for me — is lower.

I imagine there are lots of people whose situations are reversed — TypeKey account and no Passport — and their commenting patterns probably are as well.

Well, I’m glad people are back commenting now :)

For me, I courldn’t get it to work for a long time and so wasn’t able to comment.
