There’s a few posts today about PDC 2005 now that the sessions have been posted. Overall, it looks like it’s going to be a good conference again this year, but I’m a bit disappointed that the number of .NET talks is almost 5:1 over Win32/C++ talks. So, here I go again (wondering outloud): Is the number of real world developers writing applications for Windows using .NET 5:1 over those writing Win32?

Of course not. Nor do real developers use pre-release/community preview/beta software (LongHorn, Whidbey, Yukon, Indigo, etc) to develop apps, but that’s all we heard at the last PDC and that’s all we’ll hear again. Heck, you can hardly even find a decent MSDN article these days that doesn’t assume .NET 2.0.
