Still Searching: Web Photo Gallery Software
on 06.19.05, 06:31am in life • comments (14)
I’m still searching for some decent, easy to use web photo gallery software. Ideally, I want something that’s really easy to maintain, simple enough to pass the ‘wife acceptance factor‘ and that I’m able to host myself. Also, I don’t want to use flash, java, or anything else requiring people to download anything..
Anyone know of any tools that produce results in good ole DHTML or (gasp) AJAX?
Any thoughts?

Gallery — http://gallery.menalto.com/ — works for me. The original version (ie. not version two) is nice and simple, runs well and produces good output.

While they look good, I’d rather not go PHP. How about something pure AJAX/DHTML?
Thanks though for the suggestion..

This is slightly different to the ones above, but have you looked at JAlbum (http://jalbum.net/)?
Its simple and easy to use as well as allowing customization

Snaplog from http://www.snaplog.com/ has not been mentioned yet - incredibly high wife acceptance factor worthy

You could always use http://www.asp.net/migrationassistants/php2aspnet.aspx?tabindex=0&tabid=1 to convert PHP to ASP.NET.

surprised nobody mentioned http://www.flickr.com …! girlfriend approved, free (with limitations) or cheap, not your bandwidth, can power blogs.
