Rotor on Tiger

When Rotor was annouced a few years back, there was a ton of buzz around it. Tonight, I was looking around to see if there were any details for getting it up and running on Tiger, and it looks like there hasn’t been a refresh since Panther.
What’s up with Rotor? Things have gone quiet (there was a post in 2003)- even the ’servicing’ attempt is dark.

This is pretty sad news. If you go to the root http://www.sscli.net, there’s a note that sscli.net will be offline forever. I find that a real shame since there used to be some pretty cool projects hosted there (including a project porting Rotor over to Windows CE).

I think the effort has all been siphoned away to mono. I think people would rather give away their time and effort for something they have a say in vs giving things back to MS. Its probably one of those reality vs. perception things though….

IIRC Rotor got taken into the CLR team, with the intention that in future new Rotor releases would occur in parallel with their commercial counterparts. See Joel Pobar’s blog entry for 12 December 2003: http://blogs.msdn.com/joelpob/archive/2003/12/12/53743.aspx.

Right - unfortunately, there’s been no news sice that post 1 1/2 years ago.
