One of my favorite companies, Despair.com, has finally released their "landmark" guide entitled "The Art of Demotivation". The book comes in three different editions: Manager, Executive and Chairman (for a whopping $1195) and is available for purchase on their website.

My question: Is the book real or not? It was introduced on April 1st and the ISBN numbers that are on the web site don’t appear to be valid (1892503417 and 1892503408).

Yep, it’s definitely real (including the letter-pressed Chairman Edition in the custom-built humidor!). The author, Dr. Kersten, is a real organizational psychology expert and is one of the founders of Despair. So hilarious. Not sure about the ISBN numbers, though it could be becuase it’s self-published and only available for sale directly from their website.

Indeed, the book is real. I’ve seen it, touched it and have felt its wisdom corrupt my everways…i also know its real because i work for despair and if you do purchase it, including the chairman edition, you will be charged and be the proud owner of the most elaborate book made outside of gold and jewel encrusted bibles…enjoy! cheers
