For the longest time, I really considered Bluetooth to be ‘yesterday’s technology available tomorow’. I remember first hearing about it years ago, and frankly it just never seemed to get here.

Flash forward to 2005. Now that I have my Audiovox 5600, I’ve finally seen the light (it’s blue) and will admit that Bluetooth is actually pretty cool.

While on vacation, I spent some time upgrading the internal modem of my Thinkpad T40 and replaced it with the Bluetooth version. I can now not only sync and transfer files, I can also use the Audiovox as a wireless modem in situations where I don’t have 802.11b/g access. In addition, I setup the Belkin Bluetooth USB adapter (which was a breeze) on one of my desktop machines so that I can wirelessly ActiveSync with it.

Next steps? I’m seriously considering getting some sort of Bluetooth GPS for the car as well as a Bluetooth headset.

Anyone have any other Bluetooth suggestions?

I’m thinking about getting the (Scoble) phone as well. Who is the provider you are using, and how much does it cost? I’m hoping to use it via bluetooth with my Ipaq 4705.

Other bluetooth gadgets I use are HP’s bluetooth stereo headphones (still rev 1 and not perfect yet) and their bluetooth folding keyboard. Logitech makes the headphone and eventually you should be able to get drivers for PCs as well as PocketPCs. I hope they work out some of the bugs as well.

Repeat after me: IT IS NOT A SCOBLE PHONE. Stop calling it that, it gives me a headache.

It’s “Smartphone”, and it’s been around alot longer than Scoble.

Hee hee, next you’ll be telling me that this Toshiba laptop is not really called a ‘Scoble’ PC.
