After posting about the Mini-Itx RAID box a few days ago, I’ve been searching for a "mini" case that I can use to house my file server that I’ve been assembling.

I’ll have 3 or 4 200 gig drives that I’m going to put in a cage (probably this one or this one) with a mini-itx board, running some form of Windows 2003 or Windows XPE (depending how much time I get).

Since the Mini-ITX board is super small, I was really searching around for some sort of small server case (that was also super quiet) but it currently looks like my only options are either the Venus 668 or go with a more traditional Micro-ATX box. The Venus is decent, but I’d like a little more room for some more drives and 2 PCI cards (gigabit ethernet and a RAID controller).

Anyone have a thoughts on a small case? Ideally, I’m looking for something with at least 3 5 1/4" drive bays and that’s no deeper than 12" or 13".

The Venus 668 is huge for what can fit in it. I wish someone made a good mini-itx case that was designed to hold lots of drives…
