While I really like Typepad for hosting Furrygoat.com, it suffers the same problem that I had with Movable Type - posting is slow. This is due to the number of articles (1100+) that I migrated over from the old web site.

Since I received a number of comments that said I should keep the archives online, I’ve been thinking of moving the first 1000 posts to a seperate weblog (perhaps archive.furrygoat.com?) that I don’t need to rebuild when a template changes, or when new posts are added. Does anyone have any other suggestions on how to manage a large set of blog archives, other than me removing all the pre-2004 posts?

The rebuild process was what annoyed me when I was an MT user too (I use .Text on my own server now).

I really like the idea of putting the archives in a separate blog, but this would only help in the short term. As time goes on the rebuild for TypePad will get progressively longer the more you post :(
