One project that I’ve been wanting to tackle while I’m on vacation in December is to finally get all of our old pictures into digital format. My problem (which I imagine is one that alot of people have) is that I have hundreds (if not thousands) of old photos, and using a traditional flatbed scanner to scan, crop, etc. is just not feasible.

Does anyone have any suggestions or comments on ‘bulk scanning’? My current scanner doesn’t have a ‘photo feeder’, any recommendations?

I have a photo-feeder scanner you can borrow or buy. I got it on e-bay, used it to scan in every picture I own, and now its just sitting in my closet.

If you have a the negatives and it’s mostly 35mm, you may want to look into having them “developed” to PhotoCD. You get the equivalent of around a 6.3MP image, multiple resolutions on the same CD, and a much higher-quality scan than you’ll get from a consumer-grade scanner.
