[Scoble] So, Steve, thank you for explaining why this device is wonderful. It’s a phone first. In fact, it’s a better phone than my last phone which was only a phone. Geek device second. And that’s just the way I like it.

I agree with you in that this is a killer phone. The problem I’ve had with my PDA’s over the years is that I found that I used it for syncing my schedule and contacts rather than a data device - and I find that my smartphone is the same. Some times I just crave a ’swiss-army’ gadget (of course, in a super small form factor) so I can finally just have it all.

Just don’t ever expect me to send an SMS or compose email from it. :)

    It’s *almost* a killer phone…

The problem with the 5600 is the stupid ass little joy-bar-thingy that’s on the HTC Typhoon. It’s a 5 way control bar that doesn’t work 5 ways. It reminds me very much like the t68: when you press down, it sometimes selects, it sometimes moves in a direction. It’s hard to manage, and personally that’s why I didn’t buy it - even the candy bar form factor is fine with me, since I had an Nokia 8290 for a couple of years and loved that damned phone.

Now, if you wanna talk about the HTC Feeler (branded iMate SP3i) or Sonata (branded T-Mobile SDA) which is just like the 5600, but it has a joystick, instead of the asinine bar thingy… both of those look like they would offer a better experience.

    JM2C of course :)
