The downside to daycare

Over the last 4 months, both Liz and I keep going over the positive and negative aspects of day care. Last week, I mentioned one of the cool things from daycare - my son has started learning Baby Signs.
This weekend, we really felt full a downside to child care - if one kid gets an illness, it’s pretty likely that it’s going to spread like wildfire. One of the kids came down with the flu and it quickly spread to 5 out of the 8 kids in our ‘room’. I couldn’t believe how fast each of them caught it - Tyler started getting sick around 10:30 Thursday night.
Of course, the next morning Liz was sick too. Which was pretty inconvenient being that both Liz and I were in a wedding on Saturday. Remarkably, things cleared up the next day and we were able to go to the wedding.
The bad news? On the way home, I started feeling sick, and spent all day yesterday fighting the flu (I’m not going to go into the gory details). Today I’m feeling a little better, but still feel pretty weak.

Avoiding daycare doesn’t necessarily help - as you know, Lucy stays home with Gina, but that didn’t help when I got sick the weekend before last - of course I gave my illness to both of them. You know, one of the sad things about being in a family with a kid is that you can no longer wallow in your own misery when you’re sick. No more staying in bed all day - someone has to take care of the peanut, no matter how sick you are.

To liven up your discussions with Liz, here’s a website devoted to the downsides of day care.
