A few days ago, I lamented over the setup failure I received when installing Visual Studio 2005 beta 1. I immediately posted the bug up on the MSDN Product Support Feedback web site, and was greeted by this response first thing Tuesday morning:
Hello Steve, I posted the following workaround
1. Ensure you reboot your machine at least once before doing this.
2. Start VS and create a new Smart Device project (either VB or C#)
3. Press F5 and select the Legacy emulator.
4. You will see an installation dialog indicating Driver emulator being installed.
5. This should take a minute or two and it should all work.
To verify if the driver was installed and what version you have, go to “Network Connections”
Select your Local Area Connection and select Properties
If the driver is installed successfully, you will see “Virtual Machine Network Services” listed in the “This connection uses the following items list”
Pls Let me know if this helps or not.
Wow. That rocks. I’ll verify that this fixes the problem when I get home today, but I was VERY impressed I received a response so quickly.
Thanks guys!
