[Omar Shahine] Hotmail is aggresively moving to make storage a non issue any more (in light of gmail and yahoo’s recent offerings). It’s been incredibly fun, challenging and scary all at the same time. I’m really glad to be part of such a kick ass team… hotmail is going to be cool again!

More information can be found on the press release:

Starting in early July, MSN will roll out free e-mail anti-virus protection to all the 170 million MSN Hotmail customers worldwide, making MSN Hotmail the only free global e-mail service to both scan and clean incoming and outgoing e-mail for viruses and worms before they can enter a customer’s inbox. MSN also announced it will bring increased storage - 250MB inboxes - to free MSN Hotmail customers in multiple markets and will introduce MSN Hotmail Plus, an upgraded premium Web service to help customers get the most out of MSN Hotmail.

Sweet. The current limit (2MB) is killing me.

That’s cool. I’d gotten around the storage issue merely by having more than five hotmail accounts (in addition to a gmail account). The only hassle was forwarding messages from one account to one that had more space left. I’m looking forward to the upgrade.
