Last night, I finally got around to attempt streaming video to the Go Video Networked DVD player I picked up last weekend.

I had encoded a DVD in Divx format at 4MBits (720×480/576), and placed it on my network share and fired up the DVD player. The first attempt didn’t work - apparently you can’t show video encoded at > 3mb. A quick look at Pvrblog.com revealed that this is only a software limitation. A simple modification to a configuration file can be made to set the highest bitate you want to display - so I changed Program Files\Digital 5 Streaming Media\filter.cfg file’s maximum bitrate to read:

[MPEG]
BITRATE\WIRED > 9000000
[MPEG]
DVR-MS\\WIRED > 9000000

Whamo. Beautiful video streamed right to the DVD player. I love this thing.
