[David Brownell] Microsoft has a recruiting blog, and I subscribed out of curiosity. While a recruiting blog is a bit unusual, there isn’t anything revolutionary about a unique blog. However, today my world was rocked when Microsoft’s recruiting department acknowledged finding the resume of Neil Cowburn via Google due to his blog entry asking/begging for a job. Furthermore, Microsoft’s recruiting department made that knowledge public on their blog. Neil (a single individual) was able to catch the attention of Microsoft (a 50,000 person company) and then get free press for every person reading both his and Microsoft’s blog (potentially 1,000s more).

I’ve met more people at Microsoft who have said to me that they read Furrygoat than I ever could of imagined.

I get the feelign that it’s going to be a fun ride now that the weblog (and RSS) lightbulb is starting to go off for more people.
