Family Tech Support

[Chris Sells] On behalf of the software engineers everywhere, I’d like to apologize to Charlene (my step-mom) and the rest of the normal humans everything who are merely trying to make computers actually work.
Between helping out with the Blaster virus support, and the usual stream of calls from family members with computer questions, I totally understand where Chris is coming from. Trying to explain how to setup 802.11b wireless networks (not to mention WEP) seems to be the latest wave of support calls that I’ve been getting - and it’s definitely NOT user friendly. When writing software, here’s a simple level to measure usability against: if something you’re written is harder to use than programming the clock on the VCR, then it’s time for a redesign.
