Last year, I wrote a little about the Epia Mini-Itx motherboard. While the form factor is awesome, it was just to slow to use as an HTPC or a dedicated server. Via has just released the new Mini-Itx P4. Check out this bad boy:

  • Supports Intel Pentium 4 or Celeron Processor (478-pin), 533/400MHz Front Side Bus, Hyper-Threading Ready

  • VIA P4N266A + VT8235 Chipset

  • One 184-pin DDR DIMM slots Up to 1.0GB of PC2100 DDR SDRAM

  • 1 PCI slot

  • Integrated S3 ProSavage8 AGP4X graphics with S-Video and TV-Out

  • VIA VT1616 6 channel AC’97 Codec

  • Onboard VIA VT6307S IEEE 1394 Firewire (optional)

  • VIA VT6103 10/100 Base-T Ethernet PHY

  • 1 Serial Ports

  • Hardware monitoring: Temperature/ Voltage/ System fan control monitor

  • Mini-ITX Form Factor, Micro ATX Chassis Compliant

  • ATX Power Supply Compliant

  • Dimensions: 17.0cm x 17.0cm
  • Yes, you read that correct: P4 Hyperthreading in a 17 cm x 17 cm form factor. Throw in a small HD, and you’re good to good for a kick butt micro-server. Check out Mini-Itx News or EpiaCenter to see some wild projects (yes, that’s a toaster w/ a motherboard) being done with mini-itx motherboards.
