[Peter Golde] I changed the font I used for programming from Lucida Console to Verdana. At first it felt weird and unnatural to use a proportionally spaced font for programming. But Verdana is so amazingly easy to read on the screen (especially with ClearType on) that I like it much better after just a little bit. An unexpected benefit is that I can get a lot more characters on a line, or use a narrower window.

It’s amazing to me though how people have different views on coding fonts. While Verdana is a much cleaner to look at, I can’t quite see using a non-fixed width font for typing code. Lots of people still use Courier New, or even ProFont.

Personally I’m a Lucida Console guy.
