The WWMX, short for the World-Wide Media eXchange, is an experimental research project run by the Interactive Visual Media Group at Microsoft Research. Our goal is to explore what we can do with a gazillion photos on a single database indexed by their location. Our focus is on location and digital photos. The location where a photo was taken can provide strong clues about its semantic content and offers an intuitive way to index it, even among a large collection of photographs.

This is a pretty neat idea. Check it out here.
