Since I’ve had absolutely no time for anything except work and sleep as of late, I thought yesterday morning would be a good time to catch up on the news of the week (both tech and non-tech). Somehow, I got it in my head that it would be pretty cool if I downloaded a few news programs (that should be available in MP3 format), drop them on the Ipod and bring them to the gym with me so I could listen to them while working out.

Surprise! This wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be. I first hit News.com, remembering that they used to have News Radio, or something like that. Hmmm. Seems I need to install their download manager and they’ll deliver content to me. Forget that, I have enough MP3 tools on my box already.

Then I hit NPR figuring I’d get the world news. Only Real and Windows Media stream files. I ended up searching for almost an hour and was unable to find my simple request: today’s news, weekly news or tech news downloadable in MP3.

I finally ended up listening to an interview dated back in January on .NET Rocks with Alan Cooper on user interface design.

Am I missing something? Are my google skills that bad? Or is downloadable content just not there yet? I wonder if the Plus! Sync and Go pack from MS might do the trick - that is, of course, if it saves in MP3 format (rather than WMA).
