So, my first week as a Microsoft employee was really good, although it can be a bit overwhelming. A friend of mine who’s been there awhile described it best: “the first few months feel like being a freshman in college again“. Exactly.

Besides the general new-hire stuff, and getting up to speed with what your group is working on, there’s also tons and tons of things going on outside your group. Exploring the intranet kind of reminds me of being on the Internet for the first time - You stare at the browser amazed at the massive amounts of resources available, and freeze for a moment asking yourself the question “what now?”. Then almost instantly, you turn into Lucy at the candy factory trying to absorb as much of the information and the online goodies as possible. There’s so many places to find information and so many things going on there, it almost feels like the company itself is a living entity.

First week impressions? Take all of this stuff, add on the bonus of not only being able to work on, but be apart of some really cool technology leads me to one thought:

This is going to be fun.
