Three Cities

[Teal Sunglasses] Early on, we really enjoyed Seattle, finding it a fascinating and fun place. But over time, we realized that we were more and more attracted to Portland. What we originally saw as a way stop slowly turned into the true love. A lot of the struggle we had with Seattle was traffic, and the poor way Seattle handled it’s growth…. And now, most of the time, it reminds me a lot of LA.
This is in reference to an article that ran in the Seattle Times comparing Seattle with Portland, OR and Vancouver, BC. Its funny how both of these articles echo how we’ve been feeling about Seattle over the last few months. Don’t get me wrong, 5 1/2 years ago when I moved here, I fell in love with the city - the views, the lifestyle, the food — pretty much every aspect of it. But something recently has changed about the feeling of the city that’s more than just the economy and the unemployment rate.
Whatever it is, each day more and more reminds me of the reasons I left the east coast. I think we need to take some road trips to both Vancouver and Portland and check them out.
