Moments of Revelation

Last week, I hinted of some upcoming changes. After 5 long years, yesterday was the last day of employment at my current job. Without getting into the gritty details, let’s just say that it was a tough call after spending much blood, sweat and tears with some outstanding people. I wish them and the company success in their undertakings.
As for me, it’s on to new challenges. First off, I need to finish the book that I’ve been writing the last few months. The advanced word from the tech reviews has been pretty good (i.e. not lots of changes), and im happy that it will cover some exciting and new technologies. Another bonus is that there aren’t already 100 books available on the same topic. This now is priority number one for me.
In addition, as a side project in the next week or so, I’d like to move the weblog over to Movable Type.
With regards to work? Well, im not quite sure yet. A few months ago, I started my own company to handle royalty payments from the various writing that I have done. Perhaps I will take it further to do some consulting or product development. Perhaps not.
Another option is to become involved with a company that has passion about creating solutions. Not building product for the sake of building something, but, building things that make a real difference in people’s lives.
Regardless of what I end up doing, im looking at this as an opportunity. It’s the road less taken. It’s how great adventures begin.
Which reminds me, if you are looking for a Windows/Embedded/.NET developer in the Seattle area, feel free to let me know :).
