It’s funny - Only a year ago, I hardly knew of RSS, RDF and the whole blog thing. Now, I get annoyed when I visit a site and it doesn’t have a feed to subscribe too. Its amazing to me how much content syndication has changed the way that I work, not to mention how I use the Internet. You see, every morning I have a ritual - I fire up AmphetaDesk, download the ever-growing batch of sites I regularly visit, and catch up with what’s going on. I hardly use the browser to visit web sites anymore, I just read the syndicated feeds. If I need to be on the move and don’t want to carry the laptop, I’ll use Pocket Feed to grab the latest stuff while im sitting in Starbucks. Although other web syndication tools (AvantGo and Mazingo), have been around much longer, RSS’s pure simplicity has made it a joy to work with (well usually, 1.0 was a bit of a pain, and this 2.0 nonsense is getting plain silly).

Any technology that changes the way you work, and is simple and transparent enough that it seamlessly integrates into daily life (much in the same way e-mail and instant messaging has) are sure tell signs that a small, quiet evolution has occurred.

Me? I’m going to see how much RSS I can integrate into projects as I return from my sabbatical - I think it would be cool to have our bug system spit out indicident reports in RSS format.
