Unexpected Travels

Sorry its been awhile since I’ve made any updates. As we were returning from a 3 day backpacking trip out to the Hoh Rainforest, we got an unexpected phone call regarding a family emergency. We immediately jumped on a plane and have been in Illinois since. Every now and again I was able to jump on a dial up, but, it really made me think about Danny O’Brien’s idea on the home server concept. Boy it sure would of been nice to have a central location to get mail, and not have to constantly worry about the stupid 2mb limit on Hotmail.
Anyways, on the way back through Denver, I jumped on the AT&T Wireless QPASS 802.11b network ($9.99 for 24 hours - last time we went, it was free - oh well), quickly grabbed the latest feeds via AmphetaDesk, and have been catching up on the extremely bumpy flight back. Its kinda weird how many things get introduced in “Internet time” while away. Here’s some thoughts on the going on’s of the last week:
- RSS 0.94 and RSS 2.0: Nice to see that lots of new going on’s with the format. Personally, I agree with injektilo: I’ve been mostly ignoring it because all I really need are title, link and description.
- Mac Migration - Randy makes the jump to OSX. Spent a little time with it the other night, and think it might be a great platform just to learn how to make more usable software. Did see it crash a bit though. Hmm.
- BSQUARE’s Power Handheld Reference Platform (”Maui”): As a long time BSQUARE employee (almost 5 years), I’m glad to see the announcement is finally out. Since I’ve been on sabbatical since May, returning to the office on the 16th should be interesting now that the Power Handheld platform is becoming ready for prime-time.
